The Memorandum of Understanding between the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR) and the National Research Foundation of the Republic of South Africa (NRF) was signed on 11 December 2014.
For the NCBR, the agreement was signed by Professor Krzysztof J. Kurzydłowski, Director of the Centre, while Dr Albert van Jaarsveld, Chief Executive Officer, signed the MoU on behalf of the NRF.

Based on the agreement, the agencies  aim to support research and development activities and other forms of scientific and technical cooperation between Polish and South African universities and research institutions.

The Parties agreed that bilateral cooperation will focus on the following fields:

  • Health sciences
  • Agriculture
  • Biosciences and biotechnology
  • Environment and climate change
  • Water and green technology
  • Maritime economy
  • Clean coal technology
  • Information and communication technology (ICT).  

One of the actions planned by the Parties is a bilateral call for proposals to be launched in 2015. Further information will be available upon the announcement of the call for proposals.
